Who Are We?
We are a group of parents who came together in the spring of 2004,
because we were concerned about the budget cuts that were being
proposed by the school district. Because
we are not bound PTA regulations, we are free to express our opinions
and share important information related to our school district.
Collectively, we believe we have found a gap between what has
been happening in our school district and how the information
was dessiminated to parents. For example, information on proposed
budget cuts and funding issues do not come through the weekly
school packets.
With information traveling across the Internet,
we can respond proactively instead of reactively to any proposed
decisions at a local level. We also are involved at a State and
Federal level in trying to equalize funding for our District.
How do you Become an Official TPO Member?
Membership is free. Anyone who joins our email
distribution list can be considered a member – there are
no other requirements. See “Our Discussion Board”
to learn how to join our website and receive email distributions.
We Need Active Members

Lopez if you have any time to volunteer to assist TPO with
flier distribution, research, administrative tasks, public speaking,
marketing, website assistance, marketing, advertising, phone trees,
etc.
Who Should be a TPO Member?
Anyone living in Torrance should consider
becoming a member. Our school district affects our community Even
if you do not have children in Torrance Schools you may want to
be kept abreast of what is happening with our district. Teachers
and TUSD staff that work in TUSD but do not live here my also
wish to join.
Our Discussion Board
The discussion board is an effective, valuable,
and time-saving method of communicating. Here you can learn about
the latest developments in our district or planned TPO events
or campaigns, discuss specific specific issues, or just listen
to what others have to say about what’s going on.
Purpose of Discussion Group
The purpose of the discussion group is to
share ideas, knowledge, facts and perspectives relating to specific
topics. It’s also an easy way to disseminate information
quickly relating to organized events, rallies, Board Meetings,
letter campaigns, fundraising, etc.
How to Join the Group
If you don’t want to crowd your
business or personal email with discussion items you can create
a free, web based email account on google,
yahoo, msn.

Rules of Conduct
While everyone has a right to express opinions
and viewpoints, no one is allowed to do so in such a way that
belittles or demeans another person or their viewpoint.
It is up to the site owner and moderator to determine content
or conduct is inappropriate. Inappropriate behavior will lead
to the suspension of your rights to use the discussion board.
